Business Going Down

Everybody’s talking about something they did
Expecting no one has gone down that road before
The city is too small or maybe it’s just too big
Either way it’s just about to swallow me

Names are dropping all around
Rising stars and hangers on
This is business going down
Invest your heart, arrest your soul or flee this town

My nerves I don’t know if they’re cut out for this
Or if patience is a virtue or the devil’s gift
I’m trying all I can to just kick back a bit
But then time flies and chances die
And that was it

Names are dropping all around
Rising stars and hangers on
This is business going down
Invest your heart, arrest your soul or flee this town

I am out relaxing and they come to talk
”You have to pull the strings you have to walk the walk”
The intensions are good they’re only trying to help out
But for me this is not what it’s about

I’ll show you that’s not the way I walk
My leg drags but I keep up
In my own time and with my own luck
And if you listen then you won’t hear me talking
Just listen

This is what it sounds like when nobody is talking

Names are dropping all around
Falling stars and hangers on
When business is going down
Listen to the music playing in your mind
Don’t let it die
Don’t let it die
It’s playing in your mind
It’s playing in your mind

Mexican Standoff

I don’t pretend to believe anything
But I might believe in you
I might let you in
The last thing you need is to depend on me
Here we are in a Mexican Standoff
Who will be the first to give in?

Oh
My heart is sinking like a stone
Please dive into the ocean
Don’t let it sink alone

Pain reliever finest there is
Reality deceiver
Give me a shot of bliss
You are a jewel you know what to do
Seeing you dancing like a wild child
Makes me want to dance too

But oh it’s cold
Colder than it has been before
And I can’t speak anymore of the things I once owned
Before you
My heart is sinking like a stone
Please dive into the ocean
Don’t let it sink alone

I don’t pretend to believe anything
But I might pretend with you
Pretend to let you in
Then you might say you need to depend on me
Here we are in a Mexican Standoff
Who will be the first one deceived?

You Belong to the City

You belong to the city
I belong to Love
To Love you can’t give me
But on Love I won’t give up

High up on his dark horse
The ruler of neon laughs
Tell me why do you want more
When he paints his bright lights black
You ride with him from door to door
With eyes I don’t recognize
I can’t tell him from you
I don’t know who is who
Your coat is as black as his cloak
And that’s why

You belong to the city
I belong to Love
To Love you can’t give me
But on Love I won’t give up

Made up faces are melting
As the morning sun takes her toll
And your darkness may be a light repellant
But you can’t hide from getting old

In the fatefuls’ dome I wait with the rest
It’s a prison at worst and the end at best
Our red hearts in jars are too big for our chests
We may close our eyes but we never rest

You belong to the city
I belong to Love
To Love you can’t give me
But on Love I won´t give up

On Love I won’t give up

The Truth

I’ll attempt to write
But I cannot promise anything more than that
And you may not like
What my pen turns over
Where my head is at
But we need the truth to be spoken always
Or we won’t stand a chance
So let my heart speak freely to you
Will you prepare for that?

Because I used to conceal time and time again
The edges of the page
Where I’d lose my tongue in twisted chatter
Where I would lose my grace
If I do that will you come back
Will you come back to me?
We’ll have to wait and see
’Till the first time comes
When I do that to you
If you’ll come back to me

Will I be brave I wonder
Can I take and handle
What I demand from you?
Not the dressed up lies that go easy on me
No but the ragged truth
Will I welcome it?
Yes I’ll be damned if I don’t treat it like it were my kind
If it comes with love
I’ll protect it always
I’m going to let it in

Hey Love

I cry for all the men you’ve left behind
For all the women waiting for you that you’ll never find
For the hopeful boy who’ll face you and go blind
For the faithful girl to whom you’ll be unkind

I wonder are you dressed in red and lace?
Or do you wear black with rusted iron chains around your waist?
Does the nature of your presence always change?
When I see you will I recognize your face?

There are wanted signs of you all over town
We are hunting for you but we are unarmed
We are weaponless we do not wish to harm
Love

Hey Love
What’s going on?
I have left the lights on just in case you come around
I won’t set you up I will not let you down
Hey Love

Women want to get a hold of you
But between their sweaty fingers you will easily slip through
They are after you but you are faster and
As they hunt they do not notice all the men
Who have set up traps and dug holes in the ground
And now they are waiting here impationately for you to come around
The only thing is that you never come around
Do you, Love?

I wonder are you dressed in red and lace?
Or do you wear black with rusted iron chains around your waist?
Does the nature of your presence always change?
When I see you will I recognize your face?

Hey Love
What’s going on?
I have left the lights on just in case you come around
I won’t tie you up
I won’t pin you to the ground
Hey Love

Pizmotie Deciphering

In through the window a new day
Silently gliding on wings
Gently corrupting the breathing
Of two lovers sleeping in
And it lands upon joined hands
Ending their dreamy dance
Don’t look beyond
The beauty is gone
If you decide to look back

Crystal reflecting and weaving
Sun colored wallpaper strands
Frog undercover in ceiling
Revealing its true self to man

Pizmotie deciphering
Only our two hearts can
If he was alive you could ask Mr. Green
Only our two hearts can

Then they sit by the windowsill
All in tongues if they’re speaking still
Come what may, world do what you will
The city moves but the lovers
Only move each other

Hearing Colors Seeing Noises

I have always thought
Just use the words you find
But now it seems no words can handle what is on my mind
Can’t get around
This world inside my head

Now his voice is coming out to lift me from the bed
Lays down his song upon my legs and hooks on to my chest
Takes me floating
I look at you
You are floating too

Up to the ceiling
Where the lonely bird is living
Out on the floor to dance
Across the covers
Now I have to hold on to you
So I won’t lose my head
Hold me closer in this bed
I want to look at you instead
‘Cause the tree is staring at me
Like it’s never seen an open mind before

Just when I think I get a grip the floor begins to slip
I no longer recognize what’s underneath my feet
Oh can you help me?
I am my own worst company

But then I start hearing colors
And the noises turn to silence
I am walking in the gardens
Of the greatest peace inside me
And I see that you have lined up
With the crystal in the water
And the one that’s in your window
It’s the strongest line that I have ever seen
And I will walk it

Up to the ceiling where the lonely bird is living
Out on the floor to dance
Across the covers
Now I have to hold on to you
So I won’t lose my head
Hold me closer in this bed
I want to look at you instead
‘Cause the tree is staring at me
Like it’s never seen life before

This is the soundtrack of my mind
When all words have broken down
And my fingers have gone numb
I can feel this trace of sound

The Crystal Horse is a Liar

There’s that crystal in its place
I wonder what truth can I trace?
One straight line from A to B
 then back again
It’s easy to see but
Hard to walk when you’re drunk on worries
Drunk on lost time and in a hurry
Sometimes I think that crystal is lying
Lying through its teeth
 to keep us from crying

Two wild horses in two hearts
One is in mine and the other is in yours
Running and running trampling down
Every flower in sight
 every flower around
Now here they come meeting over a fence
Exchanging stories and experience
Both know that the other is a liar
Lying through their teeth just to get higher
Watch the horses get high

Sometimes we walk around like lovers
Sometimes I wonder if I will recover
From feelings that I had so long ago
They jump out at me
But I know what I know
When you come knocking looking for true love
I ain’t got it
But I’ve got something warm
Lies like ours are often told
And I’d rather be a liar than to be on my own

The Space Song

Tonight I saw the moon’s face
And I thought of you
Going crazy in space
I wouldn’t know what to do
But you’re riding stars
Like were they the finest of waves
The sun is going fast
But you’re keeping her pace
And I know my presence would just be a waste
Dragging you down
In the simplest of ways

You belong
Humming that great space song
And I can hear you going on and on
Even though you are long gone
